摘　　要：自由教育思想的发展是被理性规定的。从理论理性看,纽曼的自由教育思想呈现的是求真的特征,要实现这种特征需要通过"洞见"的方式。从实践理性看,纽曼的自由教育思想呈现的是向善的特征,要实现这种特征需要通过"信仰"的方式。从创造理性看,纽曼的自由教育思想呈现的是致美的特征,要实现这种特征需要通过"创造"或"设定"的方式。The development of liberal education thought is under the rule of reason.In the theoretical reason,Newman's liberal education thought displays a feature of ' seeking the truth '.To realize this feature,the ' insights ' way is greatly needed.In the practical reason,Newman's liberal education thought displays an orientation of goodness.To realize this feature,the ' belief ' way is badly needed.In the creative reason,Newman's liberal education thought displays a feature of ' achieving beauty '.To realize this feature,the ' creating ' or ' setting ' way is extremely needed.
