基于语料库的《论语》两个英译本的翻译风格研究

摘　　要：本研究基于自建《论语》英译语料库,使用语料库检索工具Word Smith将《论语》的理雅各和辜鸿铭英译本在词汇、句子和语篇三个层面的基本特征进行数据统计和对比分析,考察两个译本的翻译风格异同。通过多层面对比分析,发现两个译本行文都很地道流畅、语篇连贯、阅读难度不高、译语明晰化和简化特征明显。相较而言,理雅各译本用词更为灵活丰富,句子更加简洁流畅,篇幅较短,语体更加正式,可读性更高。Based on self-buih corpora, this paper uses WordSmith to make a quantitative and qualitative analysis of two English versions of Lun Yu by James Legge and Gu Hongming at the levels of words, sentences and discourses, so as to find out the similarities and differences of their translation styles. The result shows that both translation versions are fluent and idiomatic in expression, coherent in discourse, easy to read, showing obvious signs of explication and simplification. Comparatively speaking, Legge＇ s version is more flexible in word choice, simpler in sentence structure, shorter in length and more formal in style.
