摘　　要：高职英语教学应在传统的教学模式基础上做相应的改革。文章从分析英语教学现状出发,阐述了英语通用语概念的界定及特点,提出教师应结合高职公共英语教学目标及国际通用语背景下英语交际特点,对公共英语课程进行深入的改革实践,着重培养学生在特定工作场景及交际环境中的语用能力和跨文化交际能力,发展自主学习能力,提高人文素质及职业道德素养。With the development of economic globalization and the increase of international communication,English has become an international common language for people from different countries,regions,languages and cultural backgrounds.Therefore,English teaching at the higher vocational colleges should be reformed because of the weaknesses of the traditional teaching mode.Moreover,the teachers should combine the teaching objectives of public English teaching in higher vocational colleges and the characteristics of English communication under the background of international common language,and carry on the thorough reform practice to the public English curriculum.Emphasis should also be placed on cultivating students’pragmatic competence and intercultural communicative competence in specific work situations and communication environments in order to improve students’practical English application abilities and improve the quality of English teaching.
