外宣片字幕变译的文化阐释

摘　　要：外宣片字幕翻译是讲好中国故事、传播中国声音的重要议题,关系着国家形象的主观性建构与传播受众的情感化认同。为弥合外宣片源语与译语的文化语境差异,研究以外交部省区市全球推介片的中英字幕为例,基于霍夫斯泰德文化维度理论,对源语字幕的文化动机与译语受众的普适文化认知进行价值倾向分析和接受行为解释,分析外宣片字幕英译变通策略的选择。研究发现:在权力距离维度下,改译缩小权距,摘译由名转实;在个体主义与集体主义维度下,译述转换视角,突出个体叙事;在不确定性规避维度下,改译突出特性,阐译丰富语境。该研究较为系统地梳理了外宣片字幕变译分众化表达原理,能为提高外宣片的情感劝服力及故事影响力提供参考。The subtitle translation of China′s publicity films is of critical importance in narrating true stories about China, involving the subjective construction of national image and persuasive identification of the target audience. To bridge the cultural perception gap between the source and the target audience of publicity films, this paper, with a case study on the Chinese-English subtitles of "MFA Presenting Chinese Provinces" publicity films, analyzes the cultural orientations implied in the Chinese-English subtitling and interprets the acceptance behaviors of the target audience by applying Hofstede′s cultural dimensions theory, so as to comprehend the selection of adaptation strategies for English translation of Chinese publicity films. It is found that Power Distance features translation plus rewriting and selected translation, Individualism-Collectivism features narrated translation, and Uncertainty Avoidance features translation plus rewriting and translation plus explanation. Overall, this study provides a translational approach to improving the emotional persuasion and narrative impact of publicity films through a systematic examination of the implied variation principles for publicity film subtitling.
