摘  要:具有联网和多媒体功能的智能手机已经在我国大学生中普及,而词汇学习仍然是外语学习中重要而又困难的一个环节。我们将智能教学系统整合到某高校一学年的大学英语课程教学中,在学生自愿参加的前提下,让学生借助手机同步学习和练习所要求的单元词汇。该校13个教学班的学生参加了这次自然实验。根据学生参加系统内活动的情况将学生分为实验组和对照组,两组在活动频次、总分和均分上都表现出显著差异。通过分析学生在实验前的考试成绩、实验中两个学期的期末成绩,发现:实验前两组学生英语考试成绩无显著差异,随着常态化应用的展开,实验组学生的学业表现逐渐高于对照组,实验结束时差异显著。以在线学习活动指数(OLAI)来衡量实验组学生词汇的学习效果,发现其不仅在整体词汇水平维度上逐步提高,而且在词汇掌握的质量(即组织能力或者深度)和速度(即自动性或者流利度)两个维度上均有显著进步,且速度维度保持连续上升状态。本研究结果表明,智能教学系统和手机的长期常态化课程整合不仅提高了学生整体词汇维度、速度和质量维度的水平,而且改善了学生在常规考试中的表现,增强了学生的听力。Smartphones with networking and multimedia functions have become popular among college students in China,and vocabulary learning is still an important and difficult part of foreign language learning.We developed and integrated the intelligent tutoring system CSIEC into the English instruction in a college for one academic year.The students can voluntarily participate in this experiment,learn and practice the required unit vocabularies in the system supported by their mobile phones.Students from 13 classes participated in the natural experiment.Students were divided into experimental group and control group according to their participation in the learning activities in the system.The two groups showed significant differences in activity frequency,total score and average score.By analyzing the students*college entrance examination scores before the experiment and the final scores of the two semesters in the experiment,it is found that the students in the experimental group and those in the control group had the same foundation before the experiment.Throughout the experiment,the academic performance of the experiment students was improved gradually and higher than that of the control group,and the difference was significant at the end of the experiment.Using the online learning activity index(OLAI)proposed by us to measure the vocabulary learning effect of the experiment students,we found that the experiment students not only gradually improved their overall vocabulary mastery,but also made significant progress in both the quality(i.e.organization or depth)and speed(i.e.automaticity or fluency)of vocabulary mastery,among which the speed continued to rise.The results of this study show that the long-term and regular curriculum integration of the intelligent tutoring system and smart phones not only improves the overall level of students1 vocabulary and its speed and quality dimensions,but also improves students'performance in routine examinations and enhances their listening ability.
