摘  要:词汇知识是语言能力的重要组成部分,研究学习者的词汇知识和语言能力对于更好地了解学习者的语言水平和现状,有的放矢地实施教学具有重要的意义。本研究以某大学2013年入学的非英语专业新生为研究对象,研究了学习者的词汇知识现状并探究了其词汇知识和语言能力之间的关系。研究结果表明:该校新生的词汇广度知识水平总体上达到高中英语课标的基本要求;其词汇深度知识与语言能力的相关性高于词汇广度知识与语言能力的相关性;词汇深度知识对语言能力的预测力大于词汇广度知识对语言能力的预测力;就分项语言技能而言,词汇广度知识和深度知识对阅读和写作的预测力最强。本研究对于高等学校的大学英语教学具有重要的启示和参考意义。Vocabulary knowledge is an important component of language competence. Studies of students' vocabulary knowledge and language competence can better reflect their language proficiency, and can better inform College English teaching. The participants of the current study were non-English major freshmen enrolled in a university in 2013. The study investigated the general tendency of students' vocabulary knowledge and explored the relationship between their vocabulary knowledge and language competence. Research findings indicated that the freshmen's vocabulary breath knowledge, in general, reached the minimum requirements stipulated in the Senior Secondary English Curriculum; the relationship between their English vocabulary depth knowledge and language competence are higher than that between their vocabulary breadth knowledge and language competence; their vocabulary depth knowledge, rather than their vocabulary breadth knowledge, can better predict their language competence; in view of language skills, both vocabulary breadth and depth knowledge have better prediction of students' reading and writing. It is expected that the empirical study could be of significant implication for College English teaching and learning, as well as vocabulary study.
