摘　　要：MOOC为学习者提供了一种新的知识获取渠道和学习模式,成为网络时代人们学习的新途径,正在对高等教育产生巨大的影响。MOOC的发展对传统的大学英语教育提出了强有力的挑战。MOOC（Massive Open Online Course） provides students a new channel to acquire knowledge and a new pattern to learn. It becomes popular learning method in internet times and brings big impact to college English education. This paper introduces the development of MOOC and present MOOC history and characters of the most major MOOC organizations. The paper also summaries the development of MOOC in China and its challenge to traditional College English education, and also points out the advantage and of MOOC in college English Teaching and learning.
