Vulnificus弧菌是生活在美国墨西哥湾温水和牡蛎中一种弧菌。它是美国弧菌中引起严重发病和死亡的最常见的病原体。有基础免疫缺陷人群(如酒精性肝病患者)最为危险,在这些人群中,由于败血症和伤口感染引起死亡率大约是50％。
